Absolutely anything can happen on an unscripted competition show like *Survivor*, which is what makes predicting what *will* happen so difficult. Especially when you have absolutely no control over the situation. But do you know who *does* have at least a modicum of control? The players.
That's why we asked the cast of *Survivor 49* before filming began to lock in a bold prediction for their upcoming season (which just began airing on CBS). Who will end up looking like Nostradamus? Only time will tell, but check out these predictions from the contestants, including one player boldly calling out exactly when he will get voted out.
'Survivor 49' star Nicole Mazullo says she was voted out because 1 player did not like her

My bold prediction is that they are bringing back the loved ones visit. It's been long enough. It's right before 50, so they know a lot of money's coming in for 50. They're going to bring back having loved ones compete.
Matt Williams

My bold prediction for season 49 is somebody — or a group of somebodies — is going to come up with a piece of strategy and pull it off that's going to make that Operation Italy look like third grade math.

For whatever reason, I have an inkling that there's going to be a Redemption Island type vibe involved, and I don't want to be the one on it. I don't want to be alone. I know I said that I'll do anything in this game, but it's anything except for that.
Jeremiah Ing

My bold prediction is that I'm going to make it to the merge. I think people are going to really see how great of a social player I am and I'm going to be voted out seventh.
Savannah Louie

I think they're going to get rid of that stupid split Tribal. And you can tell [host Jeff Probst] I said it was stupid, too. I don't like it. I feel like it puts people at an unfair advantage and what used to be a twist is now becoming too predictable. And *Survivor* tries to keep things unpredictable. So give the players a little something else to work with, Jeff.

My bold prediction for season 49 is that there will not be a tribe split at the merge. So there won't be two people going home on the same episode.
Shannon Fairweather

A bold prediction that I want to make for this season is similar to what we're seeing in season 48 right now with Joe and Eva — this concept of loyalty. I think there's going to be almost an extension of that where people are playing more with their hearts and with people they really feel good with. And I think the people who choose positivity and love and a harmonious way of playing are going to do really well.
I created an AI guru. So I asked AI because I was struggling before coming out here, not emotionally, but just mentally: How am I going to play this game? Because how I live my life is very truthful and honest and authentic and compassionate and caring for other people. So I created an AI guru and I'm like, pretend you're Jesus, Ram Dass, and Amma, but also someone who won *Survivor*, and asked how I should [play] this game and vote people out?
It actually gave me some great insight of seeing it all as sacred, seeing each aspect of how you can vote someone out but still honor them and their humanity and who they are. And also recognizing that there's this natural process. We're all going to die someday, right? Everybody's got to go at some point. So what's the harmony? What's the natural? And I think there's going to be this really beautiful kind of evolution of the game that hasn't been seen before this season.

My bold prediction is they're bringing back the challenge where you're in a bathtub drowning that's basically like torture. I talked about it in my interviews and have pleaded for it. I watched that competition growing up and the tide comes in and literally, they are drowning. And it stopped because I think there was a tide and people just outlasted it. I think that was so abnormal. And I think it's time. It's been at least five or six seasons or something like that. But that's one that I've talked about. So I'm hoping they're taking my advice.
Sophi Balerdi

I think someone's going to play an idol for me. Because I'm going to try and have a hold on these people in that way where they want me there to the point where they'll sacrifice immunity for themselves to help me. I know that's bold, but that's my prediction.
Steven Ramm
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Steven-Ramm-Survivor-49-283-081925-ce60fba27613488ea912226409c442b3.jpg)

During fire-making, it's going to be a photo finish. People are going to hit the wire at the same exact time. And I don't know how production's going to deal with that, but they're going to have to go and look at the camera, break it down frame by frame. That's never happened in *Survivor*. I think that'd be pretty sweet.
Nicole Mazullo
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Nicole-Mazullo-Survivor-49-294-081925-914f725bd3ac49878bd9adf0af268d57.jpg)

I think there's going to be more than one amulet being used. So more than one grouping. Maybe one towards the beginning of the game and then you have one right before the merge. I think there are going to be six of them out there. One group of three and another group of three. I don't think they've ever done it.
Jawan Pitts
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Jawann-Pitts-Survivor-49-296-081925-0f35363392f2417e90c97c69804b78bc.jpg)

My bold prediction is there's going to be a lot of idol plays. I'm just speaking that into existence. I feel like 49, because we're so close to 50, a lot of people might not look at our season seriously. They're like, "All right, let's skip it over, get to the good stuff." But no, I think there's a lot of people like me that we got something to prove. I know I do. So I would love to be a part of that by playing multiple idols. I think that would be dope. I also think multiple advantages might get played in a single Tribal Council — that's my prediction.
Kristina Mills

Because we're the season before 50 and I feel like there's been just different hype getting up to it, I think that we'll have returning players who are going to be on 50 or just iconic ones that aren't going to be on 50 — and maybe they'll help Jeff with a competition or they'll be involved some kind of way. I don't think it'll be like *Island of the Idols*. I don't think it'll be anything like that. And I hope it's fun, but I do think they're going to be involved some kind of way.
Rizo Velovic

I'm going to say that five or more people hug Jeff Probst when they get voted out and somebody hugging Jeff Probst will cry.

I think there are going to be no super fans on the show. I'm just looking around at everyone and I think there are probably a lot of people like me. I'm not a super-fan. I've seen all of the seasons in non-sequential order. I can't tell you who won most of them. I can't even tell you most of the players. I can be like "That one guy was cool way back," but I, in no way, am prepared for this game like a super-fan would be prepared.
I look around at this crowd and I think there are probably a lot of people like me that have just watched the show some — a little bit here, a little bit there. And this new era has changed things. You brought in a whole bunch of new people that haven't watched this show since the beginning. I would like to see a season like that, where there aren't a bunch of super-fans, so we'll see.
Jake Latimer
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Jake-Latimer-survivor--308-081925-9232a334719d4f64922194eb1835dc91.jpg)

A bold prediction that I would like to see happen is the top three are the nice people. The people that go through life just enjoying life, enjoying people that are truthful, that are loyal, that are honest. That's a bold prediction I would love to see happen. I mean, you always get the players that are playing the game, but they change who they are as a person. They come into this game, they might be a beautiful person on the outside, but look at last year, for example. I haven't watched so I don't know if she's still in because we were gone, but the way Sai played it — she was just way too much and she wasn't being nice to people.
So I just want a top three of people that deserve to be there. And what I will tell my top three alliance is that if I have to lose this game, I'd love to lose to one of you guys. I want to get to the end, but one of you guys can take the cake. That's what I would like and that would be my bold prediction.

Something I noticed for season 48 with Mary and hot takes, her sign said, "The Shot in the Dark is wack." And then it ended up working for her. I'd like to see the idol nullifier come back and maybe I'm going to pull a Mary and say that and maybe the idol nullifier will be back.

I think that season 49 is going to go down as one of the most underrated seasons of *Survivor* ever because everyone has their eyes on 50. The casting for 49 is twice as brutal because instead of two seasons for the cycle, there's only one. So everybody who's here is playing twice as hard. Everybody who is here has 50 on the mind.
I think it's going to be really brutal out there. I think that everybody who is here, in my head, they count for two people, and I think that everybody is going to have all their eyes on 50. 49 is going to be a wonderful season that kind of flies under their radar, and only looking back will people realize like, "Holy s---, we were focused on 50 so much, which ended up being a mid season because we've seen all these people before, and all these compelling beautiful people on 49 were actually way stronger than anything we've seen before."
