Though the renowned fashion editor was seen over the weekend meeting with Streep and fellow *Devil Wears Prada 2* stars Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley after a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show, EW has exclusively learned that Wintour's long-rumored cameo in the sequel won't happen after all.**** Streep, Tucci, and Ashley met with Wintour after reportedly filming scenes for *The Devil Wears Prada 2 *during the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 fashion show in Milan, with *Vogue* publishing an accompanying faux article reporting as if Priestly herself was in attendance. Other returning stars like Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were not seen at the show.**

The post appeared to tease other details of the plot, continuing, "So why has Priestly chosen to descend from her ivory tower at Elias Clarke Publications' Manhattan HQ and rejoin fashion's front line? Priestly famously stepped back from public engagements within the fashion industry following 2006's warts-and-all documentary exposé, *The Devil Wears Prada*."

Though she won't appear in the sequel, Wintour — who recently announced that she's stepping down from her longtime role as editor-in-chief of *Vogue* — played a vital role in the creation of *The Devil Wears Prada*.

Writer Lauren Weisberger worked under Wintour at the fashion bible, and used the editor as her inspiration to write her 2003 novel, *The Devil Wears Prada*, which was adapted into the successful, David Frankel-directed film in 2006.

The production reportedly meticulously recreated Wintour's office on set, with the white-walled, chic space serving as Priestly's office in the film.**

"Anna came to the first screening in New York. She sat right in front of me and David with her daughter and wore Prada, which shows she has a great sense of humor!" McKenna previously told EW in our 15th-anniversary oral history cast reunion in 2021.

Frankel added, "I remember her daughter nudging her through the screening, like, 'They got that right!' … A couple years later, I was at a tennis tournament in Miami … seated behind her, and when it was over, I made the effort to introduce myself — 'I'm David Frankel, the director of *The Devil Wears Prada*' — and [she took her] hand out of [my handshake]!"

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who had a small role as a *Runway* employee, also recounted to EW what she felt the movie got right in terms of its portrayal of the fashion industry, adding that, while Wintour was "a more reserved person" in her experience, "she was always very nice to" the model.

The film's original stars — minus Bündchen and Adrian Grenier, whom EW exclusively revealed would not reprise his role — returned to New York City earlier this year to begin filming the sequel, a year after EW additionally exclusively reported that the OG cast would return for the film alongside McKenna and Frankel.
