Michelle Pfeiffer has entered a thrilling new phase of life.

During her appearance on Monday's episode of the *SmartLess *podcast, Pfeiffer dropped a big announcement on hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes: The actress and her husband, David E. Kelley (*Big Little Lies, Presumed Innocent*) are first-time grandparents.

While discussing her relationship with acting, Pfeiffer hinted that a recent life change has shifted her perspective, and after dancing around the subject, divulged her big secret.

"I don't have time nor the desire to go that deep for that long and not be present," she explained. "I realize I have a finite amount of time left and — I might announce on this show — that I became a grandmother last year."

As the hosts offered congratulations, she continued, "I've been very quiet about it and it is— it's heaven. It's ridiculous. And if I had known that I was going to be a grandmother, I wouldn't have taken on so much work, but I've enjoyed everything and I'm really grateful. I've loved — I love each of these projects. And so the weird thing is that giving up that angst about the process has freed me up and I feel in some ways has made me better."

Pfeiffer, who shares daughter Claudia, 29, and son John, 27, with Kelley, offered no further details about the grandchild.

Representatives for Pfeiffer did not immediately respond to **'s request for comment.

Pfeiffer additionally shared that being so busy in both her personal and professional lives has allowed her to be much more relaxed about her acting process — and less stressed over the details.

"I'm so grateful. I'm so grateful because I love acting. I've never lost— in fact, I probably, enjoy it more now than I ever have because I'm sort of more relaxed with it," Pfeiffer said. "I don't really have time to be thinking about anything but the task at hand."

She added, "But when I had all these acting jobs coming up, I thought, 'Okay, okay, how are you going to manage this and have a life?' Because that hasn't always been easy for me. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl. I always like taking on challenges and then I get into it and it sort of sink or swim."

Pfeiffer went on to say that she values having a good work-life balance above all — a sentiment she has long championed. The *Scarface* actress adopted daughter Claudia Rose in March 1993. She married Kelly that same year, and in 1994, they welcomed their son John Henry. Though she initially kept working, Pfeiffer did step away from Hollywood for a few years to focus on her family.

"I was pretty careful about where I shot and how long I was away, whether or not it worked out with the kids' schedule," Pfeiffer told *Interview* in 2017. "And I got so picky that I was unhirable. And then ... I don't know, time just went on ... I disappeared, yeah."

But nowadays, Pfeiffer is back in full force. "I'm an empty nester now," she told the outlet. "I've never lost my love for acting. I feel really at home on the movie set. I'm a more balanced person, honestly, when I'm working."

Even more, Pfeiffer shared that it was actually her children who encouraged her to take on more projects. "They said, 'Mom, are you ever gonna go back to work?' I said, 'What do you mean? Isn't it great that I'm home?'" she recounted on *The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast* in 2023.

Now, Pfeiffer indeed has a packed schedule: In addition to leading the *Yellowstone* spinoff *The Madison*, she stars in Michael Showalter's upcoming Christmas comedy, *Oh. What. Fun*., and her husband's upcoming Apple TV+ drama *Margo's Got Money Troubles*.
