Frankie Muniz is pumping the brakes.
The *Malcolm in the Middle*-star-turned-pro-racer announced on social media Thursday that he's dropping out of some upcoming NASCAR races after falling off a ladder and breaking his wrist.
"The phrase 'FML' (Frankie Muniz's Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these," Muniz wrote. "I'm disappointed to share that I won't be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture."
The *Agent Cody Banks* actor, 39, explained that he was changing the batteries of a Ring camera in his backyard when the accident happened. He had used the forbidden top step to reach the device and fell.**

"While I'm gutted to miss the races, I'm grateful it wasn't worse," Muniz wrote. "I feel for my team, who've poured their hearts into this season, and I'm thankful for @FordPerformance and their unwavering support. The doctor estimates a 6-8 week recovery, so I'll be back in the driver's seat as soon as I'm cleared."
Best known as a child star, Muniz became a full-time auto racer in 2023. He drives for Reaume Brothers Racing in partnership with Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.**
Representatives for Muniz didn't immediately respond to **'s request for further comment Friday.
Beyond his injury, Muniz has had a busy year. In addition to his racing career, the actor returned to Hollywood to work on the upcoming *Malcolm in the Middle* revival. The four-episode Disney+ limited series wrapped filming in May.****

"This experience was straight-up incredible — like stepping back into Malcolm's wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11," Muniz said on social media at the time.
The revival will see Malcolm (Muniz) reunite with his parents, Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), for their 40th-anniversary party. A release date for the show has not yet been announced.
