We haven't spent our last summer at Cousins Beach.

Hours after* The Summer I Turned Pretty* aired its season 3 finale on Prime Video, the streamer revealed that there's more to Belly's story. Instead of ending with its third season, the series will wrap up with a feature-length movie written and directed by Jenny Han, author of the novels on which the series is based.

"There is another big milestone left in Belly's journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due," Han said in a statement. "I'm so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans."

As for what milestone Han is alluding to, exact plot details for the finale film are being kept under wraps — but anyone who checked out the final episode (or read the books) might have an inkling of where the story is going. After all, we still haven't heard Susannah's final letters.

For three seasons, *The Summer I Turned Pretty* has traced the messy love triangle between Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Brinley), who are both in love with her. Despite what the haters have to say about it, Jeremiah kicked off the season in a pretty solid place: dating Belly for four years and getting engaged before their final year of college. Alas, their relationship took a sharp turn before he could meet her at the altar.

In its final episodes, *TSITP* traveled from its typical beach locale to Paris, with Belly reeling from — **spoiler alert** — the abrupt end to her relationship with Jeremiah. The season finale sees her and Conrad finally confront their true feelings about each other, and begin to carve a new path forward.

Prior to the season's debut, Han teased the future of the series to **, hinting that despite season 3 being billed as the final 11 episodes, she would not be opposed to picking up on the love story later down the line.

"Never say never — I never do," Han said at the time. "If the story is there, then I'm there. As a storyteller, you just get hit with inspiration all the time. If I had a really great idea that I was excited by, that I wanted to keep telling the story, and if [the stars] were excited to do it, then I would be so pumped. It really depends on if I feel like there is more story to tell."

Series star Tung was also enthusiastic about revisiting Belly: "I love working with this group of people and I love working with Jenny," she said. "I think it's such a privilege to be any part of her cinematic universe, so if I was ever asked, I'm there."

The series also stars Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman, and Rain Spencer.**
