Marlon Wayans is very ready to make fun of modern-day horror movies in *Scary Movie 6*.
The actor and comedian, who founded the spoof franchise with brothers Shawn and Keenan Ivory Wayans, is hard at work brainstorming for the upcoming *Scary Movie *revival, and he already has a few titles in mind to tackle.
"I'm just a fan of the whole genre, man," Wayans told Comicbook.com when asked which films the sixth movie will parody. "*I Know What You Did Last Summer* may have something in there. I think the *Scream* franchise is always a great one."**
After naming those long-running franchises, which have gotten their own legacy sequels in recent years, Wayans teased that* Scary Movie 6 *will also turn its attention to some of the buzzy horror offerings of the past few years.

"I think *Heretic* was a wonderful film. *Longlegs*. *Get Out*. *Nope*," he continued. "There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day."
Then, remembering the latest horror movie to make a big splash, he added, "*Sinners*."
Last month, * *confirmed that *Scary Movie* stars Regina Hall and Anna Faris will reprise their roles as onscreen BFFs in the upcoming revival.
"We can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon — three men we'd literally die for (in Brenda's case, again)," Hall and Faris said in a statement.**

In 2024, Wayans was the star who announced the return of the franchise he helped found two decades ago. "After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they've been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!" he wrote on his social media accounts at the time. "We're looking forward to having fun on the big screen again."
Premiering in July 2000, *Scary Movie* made $278 million on a $19 million budget, skewering major plot points from *Scream *and *I Know What You Did Last Summer* while also making references to everything from *The Sixth Sense *to *The Shining* to* American Pie*.**

Though the Wayans brothers departed the franchise after the first two movies, it persisted under the creative direction of comedy legend David Zucker (*Airplane*, *The Naked Gun*), with new entries arriving in 2003 and 2006. The series then returned with 2013's *Scary Movie 5*, which was directed by Malcolm D. Lee and co-written by Zucker.
This time around, the Wayans brothers will be back at the wheel to produce and pen the script, marking their first creative reunion after an 18-year hiatus.
*Scary Movie* is currently slated to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.**
