- Jude Law and Jason Bateman team up for the wild crime thriller series *Black Rabbit*.

- The pair play brothers attempting to repay a disastrous debt — with violent consequences.**

- Bateman and Law also executive-produced the eight-part limited series.

The first trailer for Netflix's new crime thriller series *Black Rabbit* opens with a beaten-and-bloodied Jason Bateman lying on the floor of an elevator, gasping for air — and the rollicking preview for the upcoming limited series feels like the kind of dramatic gut-punch that might've put his character there in the first place.

Set in the underworld of New York City's nightlife scene, *Black Rabbit *stars Bateman and Jude Law — also executive producers on the project — as Vince and Jake, respectively, brothers who attempt to repay the former's dangerous debt in a story created by Oscar-nominated *King Richard* screenwriter Zach Baylin and *The Order* producer Kate Susman.

After Bateman's failure to keep up with lofty payments leads to intimidating threats from shady criminals (the wider ring of which also includes *CODA* star and Oscar winner Troy Kotsur) and the potential hostile takeover of Jake's Black Rabbit nightclub, the siblings' shadowy past comes to light as they fight to preserve their legacy — and their lives.**

The *Black Rabbit* trailer highlights several graphic happenings along the brothers' journey through New York City, including gun-toting takeovers of crowded public spaces, arson, masked robberies, Kotsur comically flicking a hot cup of coffee onto Law's lap, and even a briefly flashed scene that shows a character dropping what appears to be a bowling ball onto another person's head while standing at the top of a tall staircase above.

At the end of the teaser, Jake adds insult to literal injury as he asks his downtrodden brother, "I've got to ask, what happened to your shoes?" before realizing his brother sold them to help pay their dues.

A defensive Vince quickly replies, "I'm f---ing chipping away at it. I'm doing my f---ing part, giggles!"

"It's a very interesting world," Law said of the show in a press statement published by Netflix. "At the heart, I hope [audiences] are hooked by the complicated, loving, volatile relationship of these two brothers."

Added Baylin, "Kate and I were both interested in the idea of a restaurant being this kind of epicenter of a city and a meeting place for all different kinds of people and a second home to others."
