It wouldn't be Hogwarts without a Charms professor — so HBO's *Harry Potter* TV series is calling upon a very familiar face.

Franchise alum Warwick Davis, who played Professor Filius Flitwick across all eight *Harry Potter* films, is reprising his role for the HBO series. Last time he played in the sandbox of the Wizarding World, Davis was double-billed as both Flitwick and Griphook, the Goblin who works at Gringotts and escorts a young Harry Potter to his vault. But this time around, Davis only has one job: teaching students the swish-and-flick as only good ol' Professor Flitwick can.

Alongside news of Davis' return came seven additional casting announcements and among them, another Wizarding World alum. Leigh Gill is set to play Griphook, after his brief appearance as another goblin, Red, in *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them*.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts is getting fuller by the day. The staff now includes Sirine Saba as Herbology Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as History of Magic Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as the school's resident healer Madam Poppy Pomfrey. As for Harry's fellow first-years, the series has also added three students: Elijah Oshin is joining Gryffindor as Dean Thomas while Finn Stephens and William Nash are set to play Draco's lackeys and fellow Slytherins, as Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.

Production on the *Harry Potter *series officially commenced in July — all the while, HBO has been weathering the backlash of the controversy surrounding series author J.K. Rowling. Rowling, a self-described TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), has repeatedly received criticism over the years for voicing anti-trans rhetoric, drawing the ire of her fanbase and original *Harry Potter* film stars like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who have spoken out against her views.

While speaking to ** in May, Davis didn't hint at his involvement in the upcoming series but did make it clear that he'd prefer to stay out of the controversy surrounding the franchise creator.

"I don't tend to read the news. It's kind of one of those things I just don't do," Davis said at the opening of Universal Epic Universe in Orlando. "So, I'm kind of out of touch with what's going on. It's not really something I'm particularly interested in — producing entertainment is what I do."

As for the upcoming series, he added, "I love the *Harry Potter* stories [and] the whole concept of what *Harry Potter* stands for so to see a new retelling of that story can only be a good thing."
