*Catfish: The TV Show* is logging off on MTV.
MTV has opted not to renew Nev Schulman's long-running popular reality docuseries — about couples who form online relationships but have never met in person — after nine seasons. The network will allow producers to shop the series elsewhere and continue to air episodes from the existing *Catfish *library, ** can confirm.
Series co-creator and host Schulman reacted to the "sad" cancellation in a video shared on Instagram alongside original cohost and cameraman Max Joseph, who departed after season 7 to focus on his filmmaking career. Joseph, who was replaced by Kamie Crawford following his exit, insinuated that he was "about to come back" to the show prior to the cancellation.
Regardless, it's been "an incredible journey," the hosts said.**
"After 12 years, almost 300 episodes, and just a lot of traveling around this incredible country—" Schulman began the video message, before Joseph interjected, "A lot of phone calls, a lot of economy flights—"
"A lot of reverse image searches," Schulman continued, "*Catfish *has officially been cancelled."**

When Joseph noted that maybe the show "was just on pause," Schulman said, "*Catfish* as we've known it is over." He called the cancellation "sad," adding, "What an incredible journey it's been." Both Joseph and Schulman went on to thank the crew and, of course, audiences.**

"You guys are awesome and you've made the show worth continuing to do," Joseph said. "Even though I left, you still come up to me and you tell me how much you like watching it.... it's been really heartwarming to hear from you guys and just to know what the show means to you."
*Catfish*, based on the 2010 documentary film that chronicled Schulman's own strange digital odyssey to meet a woman he met online, followed Schulman and Co. as they helped people discover the truth about suspicious relationships formed online. The show debuted in 2012 on MTV with the most recent season 9 concluding last summer.**
