*The Young and the Restless* just added another soap opera veteran to its ensemble.
Roger Howarth, whose daytime TV credits include years-long stints on *General Hospital*, *One Life to Live*, and *As the World Turns*, is joining the CBS sudser in a new role. Deadline Hollywood first reported the casting, which the *Y&R* Instagram account subsequently confirmed.
Howarth was most recently seen on *General Hospital* as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt, the third character he'd played on the ABC soap since 2012. The actor first crossed over to the fictional town of Port Charles as Todd Manning, the *One Life to Live* character he portrayed on and off from 1992 to 2013. His second *GH* character was Franco Baldwin, the dastardly villain originated by James Franco. Baldwin was shot and killed in March 2021; the same month, Howarth debuted Gatlin-Holt, who was also shot and killed two years later.

"Daytime fans are lovely and amazing and supportive and dedicated and I am deeply grateful to each sparkly one of them," Howarth wrote in a heartfelt note announcing his *GH* departure in 2023. "I enjoyed my time at *General Hospital* and wish the cast and crew the best and continued success. It was a pleasure working with you all."
Howarth made his small-screen debut in 1992 on ABC's long-gone daytime hit *Loving*, from *OLTL *and *All My Children *creator Agnes Nixon. He then appeared in a 10-episode arc on *Guiding Light* as Jory.
The actor won a Daytime Emmy for his work on *One Life to Live *in 1994 and has been nominated four more times: twice for *OLTL* and twice for *As the World Turns*.
