The "Sex and the City" star recalled being set up with the "Friends" cast member in the '90s.

Kristin Davis' HBO series *And Just Like That *may have concluded, but luckily her weekly podcast *Are You a Charlotte? *is still going strong, and chock full of revelations.

The newest episode, in which she spoke with actor Brian Van Holt, contained the morsel that once, many years ago, she was set up on a date with Matthew Perry. While it did not blossom into a romance, she revealed that the star of the then current series *Friends *was "lovely" and seemed "happy."

"It was at a house. It was a dinner party. It was so low-key," she recalled of the evening from back in the late 1990s. (She had completed her time on *Melrose Place *but had not yet started shooting *Sex and the City*, so that makes it either '97 or '98 if you are breaking out the graphs and charts.)

A lawyer friend put the two of them together, and Davis said other "Hollywood people" were there, but she couldn't remember any specifics.

"He sits next to me and he's talking about how thrilled he is, how happy they are on the set at *Friends*," Davis reminisced. "I was like, 'Wow, he's so happy.'"

She contrasted this with her own experiences on *Melrose Place*, which she admitted "wasn't the happiest place, in a way." This was due to there being so many series regulars, leading the cast to feel that "they might get cut or whatever," creating a vibe that was "competitive and stressy."

Not so on *Friends*, Davis gleaned from Perry, who was also shooting the movie *Fools Rush In *with Salma Hayek at the time of this encounter.

Davis also recalled that marijuana was present at this gathering, and she was never much of a fan. She said that tokin' on grass in the past made her "super paranoid and unhappy" because it makes time seem to stop. (Note to self: don't invite Kristin Davis to Laser Floyd at the Planetarium.)

Tragically, Perry died in 2023 in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home from an overdose after years struggling with substance abuse. A woman with the ignoble sobriquet "The Ketamine Queen" recently pleaded guilty to illegally selling the drugs that killed Perry. She faces a possible 65-year prison sentence. Four others, including Erik Fleming, a one-time producer of the reality series *The Surreal Life*, are also facing charges.
