Austin Butler may find his way back home to *Hannah Montana*.

The *Elvis *star briefly discussed a potential return to the hit Disney Channel series for its forthcoming 20th anniversary during an interview with Metro Entertainment at the London premiere of *Caught Stealing*.

When asked if he'd reunite with Miley Cyrus for a possible revival or 20-year reunion celebration, Butler seemed caught off guard. "Is that a thing?" he asked. "Wow, wow. 20 years? That's crazy."

Butler first appeared on *Hannah Montana* in its first season with a small uncredited turn as Toby, the ex-boyfriend of Miley's classmate Becca Weller (Kirby Bliss Blanton) in the episode "Oops! I Meddled Again" in 2006. He returned to the show in season 2 in a more substantial role as Derek Hanson, the scaredy-cat cousin of Miley's crush Lucas (Sterling Knight), in the episode "My Best Friend's Boyfriend."

Upon being asked if he'd consider returning to play Derek, Butler responded, "I don't know, I hadn't thought about it til just now."

However, the *Bikeriders* star was enthusiastic about the time he spent on *Hannah Montana*.

"I have such great memories," he said. "We had a lot of fun. So I don't know!"

Cyrus teased plans for a 20th anniversary celebration last month during an interview with *On Air With Ryan Seacrest*. "It's about to be the 20-year Hannahversary!" the "Flowers" singer exclaimed. "Trust me, I wanna design something really, really special for it, 'cause it really was the beginning of all of this that sits here today."

It's unclear at this point what Cyrus' vision for the Hannahversary might entail, but it wouldn't be the first tween series from the aughts to spawn a recent revival. Raven-Symoné returned to Disney Channel with *Raven's Home*, a spinoff of *That's So Raven* that ran from 2017 to 2023.

Additionally, fellow Disney Channel series *Wizards of Waverly Place* returned with the Disney+ continuation *Wizards Beyond Waverly Place* last year, with original star David Henrie reprising his role as Justin Russo and a special guest appearance from his on-screen sister, Selena Gomez 's Alex.

And *iCarly*, which originally aired on Disney Channel's rival network Nickelodeon, received a three-season revival on Paramount+ from 2021 to 2023, with original cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Cress all returning.

Though he's best known for dramatic turns in buzzy movies like *Elvis* and *Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood*, Butler began his career as a teen actor in one-off appearances in numerous tween shows, including *Wizards of Waverly Place*, *iCarly*, and *Jonas*. He also played the background character Zippy Brewster on Nick's *Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide*, and later played the love interest of Jamie Lynn Spears' titular protagonist on *Zoey 101*.**
