Katie Slaton, the cousin of *1000-Lb. Sisters* stars Tammy and Amy Slaton who occasionally appeared alongside them on the TLC reality show, died Monday at 37 after a battle with cancer.

Amanda Halterman, the elder sister of Tammy and Amy, announced the news on social media Tuesday. "It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this," she wrote. "My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the [party] and my best friend."

Halterman added, "I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong."**

Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer, earlier this year.

According to a notice posted by the Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Ky., she died at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Ind. Katie "enjoyed fishing, music, and hanging out with family and friends," the notice said.

Survivors include her beloved cousins and their children; parents Jerry and Frances Slaton; brothers Jeremiah and Jesse; her own children, Landon, Liam, and Lily; and longtime girlfriend Natalie Gerrick Bailie.

*1,000-Lb. Sisters* premiered in 2020, chronicling the lives of titular siblings Amy and Tammy. The show wrapped its seventh season in June.

Katie was an occasional presence but made some memorable appearances on the series, including during Tammy's emotional return from a rehabilitation center in season 5.
