- Smokey Robinson called the recent accusations of sexual assault against him "bulls---."
- The singer said the accusations "happened at a great time, because it's happening to everybody."
- The musician does not think the allegations will impact his legacy: "Everything's going good."
Smokey Robinson doesn't seem to be stressing amid the sexual assault allegations recently leveled against him.
The "Tears of a Clown" singer said his life is "absolutely wonderful" in a brief interview with TMZ on Friday. When asked if he's concerned that four of his former employees have accused him of sexual misconduct, the singer responded, "No. Everything's going good for me."
Robinson also suggested that the recent wave of sexual assault allegations in the wake of the MeToo movement has affected his situation. "It's happening everywhere, man," he said. "If it was gonna happen to me, it happened at a great time, because it's happening to everybody, and it's bulls---."
"I'm good," he added.
The Motown singer, who is also subject to a criminal investigation from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, did not seem concerned when asked if he thinks the controversy will impact his legacy. "It hasn't seemed to," Robinson said. "It's been wonderful. People know me, man."

Four women, who all identified as Jane Doe, filed a lawsuit against Robinson in Los Angeles in May, alleging that during their time working as his housekeepers in the Chatsworth neighborhood, Robinson sexually assaulted each of them multiple times. One of the women estimated that the singer assaulted her at least 23 times during her six years of employment at the musician's home.
The suit, which requests at least $50 million in damages, also names the singer's wife, Frances Robinson, as a defendant, claiming that she "perpetuated a hostile work environment" and "failed to take the appropriate corrective action to prevent" her husband's "deviant misconduct."

Robinson's attorney Christopher Frost called the allegations — which also include false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, gender violence, creating a hostile work environment, and several labor code violations — "false" in a statement to ** in May.
"As this case progresses, the evidence (the crucial element that guides us) will show that this is simply an ugly method of trying to extract money from an 85-year-old American icon — $50 million, to be exact," Frost said. "We ask anyone following this case to reserve judgment as the evidence comes to light and all the actual facts of the case unfold."
The plaintiffs' attorney John Harris commented on the case at a press conference announcing the suit. "We believe that Mr. Robinson is a serial and sick rapist, and must be stopped," he said.
As "low-wage workers in vulnerable positions," he said his clients "lacked the resources and options necessary to protect themselves from sexual assault throughout their tenure as employees for the Robinsons."

Frost slammed the press conference in his original statement to EW, saying Harris was "trying to enlist the public as an unwitting participant in the media circus they are trying to create."

The Sheriff's Department investigation was announced shortly after the civil suit was filed in May.
"It is clear to us what is happening here," Frost stated in response to the criminal investigation announcement. "Plaintiffs filed a police report only after they filed a $50 million lawsuit. This means only that the police are now required to investigate. We welcome that investigation, which involves Plaintiffs who continue to hide their identities, because exposure to the truth is a powerful thing."
He continued, "We feel confident that a determination will be made that Mr. Robinson did nothing wrong, and that this is a desperate attempt to prejudice public opinion and make even more of a media circus than the Plaintiffs were previously able to create. The record will ultimately demonstrate that this is nothing more than a manufactured lawsuit intended to tarnish the good names of Smokey and Frances Robinson, for no other reason than unadulterated avarice."**
