The truth can be far more haunting than any scary story.
Last March, paranormal investigator and Ghost Adventures star Aaron Goodwin was informed that his wife Victoria Goodwin had helped hatch an alleged murder-for-hire plot against him. Victoria was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 36 to 90 months in prison for her role in the attempted crime.
Now, as Ghost Adventures settles into its 28th season on air, the shocking moment Aaron learned of his wife's ghastly deed — captured while the crew was filming an episode — has been released.

In the clip from Wednesday's new episode, first released by Entertainment Tonight but subsequently shared on the official Ghost Adventures Instagram, Aaron is shown explaining his reasoning behind setting up a long-exposure Polaroid shot of a hallway in the abandoned Hollydale Mental Hospital in Downey, Calif.
"I feel like something's happening," Aaron notes, when host Zak Bagans interjects via voiceover: "Suddenly, Aaron gets a notification on his phone, and we can sense something is wrong." Aaron's tone deepens. "Dude, hang on a second," he cautions the rest of the crew, who repeatedly ask him if he's okay.
"Bro, the police are at my house. I gotta go outside," he finally explains. Bagans' voiceover resumes to fill in the gaps: "At this point, we will not be showing any further footage. But it is at this moment that Aaron receives a call from the police that his wife has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder by hiring a hitman to have Aaron killed."

Victoria was arrested on Mar. 6 by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police on charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder. But it was reports from both LVMP and Florida police that revealed the grisly details of the plot she concocted with Grant Amato, a Florida inmate.
Aaron's wife first learned of Amato via the 2024 Paramount+ docuseries Ctrl + Alt + Desire, which detailed his conviction for murdering his mother, father, and brother. The two began to text, eventually collaborating on the conspiracy to kill Aaron. Victoria discussed payment, methods, and timing in messages discovered on a phone that was eventually confiscated from Amato by security guards.
Victoria ultimately testified in court to sending messages to Amato like, "Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce."

Aaron filed for divorce from Victoria the week after her crimes were revealed. In court for her June sentencing hearing, Aaron testified that discovering "someone I trusted [with my] whole heart and laughed every day with" had "put a hit out to kill me more than once... has led me to fear [for] my life."
In his own post to Instagram on Wednesday, Aaron shared an image of a hallway of the Hollydale Mental Hospital with a caption that read, "This next episode of [Ghost Adventures] is when I got the FaceTime call from the cops. They were in my house & told me what she did & she was arrested. I won't be watching this episode cause I don't want to relive that night again & what happened before the call. This lockdown is insane & disturbing with what happened during our investigation."
The first three episodes from the latest season of Ghost Adventures are currently streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes airing on Discovery Channel every Wednesday at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
