**This article contains spoilers about the first six episodes of *Love Is Blind* season 9.****

*Love Is Blind* season 9 star Blake Anderson is ready to tell his side of the story after leaving the show early.

The first two episodes of the new season featured two jaw-dropping moments. First, Anna Yuan decided to leave the pods and ghost her connections, which included Blake. Then, Anna's unexplained exit was a "wake-up call" for Blake, who also decided to leave the show — and ghost *his* remaining connections — as well. A vague message popped up onscreen after both exits, saying that the cast members "chose to leave the experiment" and "did not say goodbye" to their dates.

While Blake didn't explain his decision in the episodes, he's now opening up to * *about why he left the show early. He says that it was a combination of the accelerated timeline of the proposals and the fact that he didn't see a potential engagement for any of his connections in the pods.

"Going into the experiment, everyone is keenly aware of how condensed the timeline is, and that is something I think was always in the back of my mind during the entire experiment," Blake tells EW. "You go in probably a little skeptical, 'Is this going to work for me? Can this work for me?' You start going on fun dates and forming connections and you kind of turn optimistically. You're like, 'Okay, maybe this could work for me.' But as the days ticked on, it became pretty clear that a proposal wasn't really in the cards for me for any of my connections."

Blake explains that once that realization set in, he knew he couldn't continue dating the women in the pods.

"I realized it's probably best if I remove myself from the experiment," he says. "It was communicated, and it should be, that if we're not working towards a proposal, you shouldn't be there. And I really took that to heart. In hindsight, would I go back and maybe see things out a little differently, kind of think through how it might unfold? Yes. But I think ultimately I made the decision that was best for me."

While Blake is "pretty content" with his decision now and believes he made the right call "at the time," he does have regrets over the way he left — namely, without any explanation for the women he'd been dating.

"When I did [leave], I felt really good about my experience for about 24 hours, and then I found out about how everything went down afterwards," Blake says. "In hindsight, yes, I think that was a little bit clumsy on my part and I should have maybe thought through, and in hindsight I would've gone back and maybe played things out a little differently. But I think ultimately leaving was the right decision for me."

Megan Walerius, who calls herself "Sparkle Megan," thought Blake was her No. 1 choice in the pods. But when she showed up for their final date, Blake stood her up — because he'd already the left the show. Megan was shocked, hurt, and scrambling to figure out what happened with the man she wanted to get engaged to (she eventually turned her attention to her other two connections, and got engaged to Jordan Keltner).

"Just hearing how Megan was left hanging in the pods, it was not intentional at all to leave someone hanging," Blake says. "I honestly didn't play that out in my head, and so when I heard about that, I felt horrible, and I'm sure it was far, far worse to go through. I feel badly about that part, but ultimately I think things unfolded and my story ended the way it needed to."

Blake claims that the *Love Is Blind* producers "were fully supportive" of his decision to leave early, and didn't try to convince him to stay.

"I explained, 'Here's where my head's at and here's why,'" Blake says. "And kudos to everyone around the show, it is truly unscripted. What you see is what you get. Everyone's on their own journey, and they were supportive of my decision."

While some of Blake's fellow cast members assumed he left to be with Anna outside of the show, he's quick to shoot down that speculation. He tells EW that he didn't want to pursue anything romantic with any of his connections after his exit.

"No, I was really mostly concerned with where my head and my emotional state was at the time," Blake says. "Really, I would say Anna didn't factor into my decision. I really was just making the right decision for me at the time."

Blake also reveals that he had one other relationship in the pods in addition to Anna and Sparkle Megan that wasn't shown in the episodes.

"I had a connection with Kait as well, who was great," Blake says. "It had been really fun."

Just not fun enough to stay.

The first six episodes of *Love is Blind *season 9 are now streaming on Netflix. Episodes 7-9 debut Wednesday, Oct. 8, episodes 10-11 come out Wednesday, Oct. 15, and the finale streams Wednesday, Oct. 22.
