Haliey "Hawk Tuah" Welch, the internet personality who first went viral for a salacious candid interview comment, has responded to an actress who claims to have been replaced by Welch on the new Hulu sports comedy *Chad Powers*.
"Hey guys I've been tagged in a lot of videos of [Brittney Rae Carrera] saying I 'replaced her' in *Chad Powers*, I've been in contact with her and we're cool. I wasn't aware the role had been filled prior," Welch shared Wednesday in a post on her Instagram Stories, which has since expired.
"It was as simple as this: I was called and asked to be in a TV series with [Glen Powell] and I said yes (bc duh it's Glen Powell)," she continued. "I wasn't made aware this was happening and it was in no way malicious at all. I actually love her content and think she is a funny and sweet girl."

It took mere hours for Carrera's video, posted earlier that day to her Instagram, to get viral enough to reach Welch.
"They replace me with Hawk Tuah?! This is literally my scene!" Carrera screams in the video. The actress, comedian, and influencer, who has previously appeared in small roles in series like *Found *and *Queens*, stands next to a television that is paused on Welch's face in the first episode of the new Powell series, which premiered on Tuesday.
Carrera's friends in the foreground of the viral video record her over-the-top reaction while they watch in stunned silence. "They were not in the scene! They were not in the scene!" Carrera repeats at the top of her lungs. She then utters the word "Chernobyl" moments before Powell's character says it, prompting her to yell, "Chernobyl! I say that, that's my f---ing scene!"
Right away, commenters on the original video and versions of it shared across social media began to question the veracity of Carrera's video, not solely due to some of its staged qualities, but because Carrera has posted similar skits in the past.

The actress did, however, post an image of her name on a call sheet along with Powell's last December. On *Chad Powers*' premiere day, she shared another post containing several shots implied to have been taken behind the scenes on set, including a mannequin head wig stand sculpted with an eerie resemblance to Powell's face.
When reached for comment, a representative for Welch told ** that reps for *Chad Powers *confirmed to him that Carrera did shoot for a day on *Chad Powers, *but would not be in the episode. Reps for Hulu and Disney did not respond to EW's own request for comment.**

Welch's rep also confirmed that the viral star and Carrera did speak, and easily buried the hatchet. Later on Wednesday, Carrera posted a conciliatory story of her own, clarifying, "I am not upset with [Haliey Welch] at all." Jokingly, she added in reference to the video that launched Welch's career, "I hope one day she will teach me to spit on that thang."

On the first episode of *Chad Powers*, which chronicles a disgraced pro footballer's use of prosthetics to infiltrate a smaller team in disguise and prove his worth on his own merits, Powell's titular athlete visits a nightclub where he meets Welch, who plays herself. "We got Haliey Tuah!" Powers boasts, trying to fit in with his younger peers and their ever-evolving references. "Welch. Haliey Welch is my full human name," the viral star responds. ****
