Donald Trump is lashing out at the NFL for choosing Bad Bunny to headline the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX halftime show.
During Trump's Monday appearance on NewsMax's *Greg Kelly Reports*, the eponymous host asked the president to weigh in on the recent announcement. "The NFL just chose the Bad Bunny rabbit or whatever his name is," Kelly said. "This guy, who hates ICE, he doesn't like you, he accuses everything he doesn't like of racism."
Asking the president if people should consider boycotting the NFL, Kelly added, "This guy does not seem like a unifying entertainer and a lot of folks don't even know who he is."
"I've never heard of him," Trump said of Bad Bunny, who last year boasted the third-most streams globally on Spotify, despite not releasing a new album. "I don't know who he is."

Blasting the choice, he continued, "I don't know why they're doing it. It's crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment— I think it's absolutely ridiculous."
Representatives for Bad Bunny did not immediately respond to *'*s request for comment.
Despite Trump leveling his complaints at the NFL, the league itself is not responsible for choosing the halftime show performer. For the seventh year in a row, the NFL has teamed up with Jay-Z's Roc Nation to program the show, "enhance the NFL's live game experiences and amplify the league's social justice efforts."

Bad Bunny, who is currently one of the biggest musical artists on the planet with over 107 billion streams on Spotify and 49.5 million followers on Instagram, was named the halftime show performer on Sept. 28 and reacted in a statement.
"What I'm feeling goes beyond myself," the musician said. "It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. *Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el halftime show del Super Bowl."*
The Super Bowl will mark Bad Bunny's only performance in the continental U.S. to promote his latest album, *Debí Tirar Más Fotos*. He has otherwise opted to avoid the area in favor of a residency in his native Puerto Rico (which is a U.S. territory) and a world tour in Latin America, Australia, and Europe.
The artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, addressed this decision last month, explaining that he declined to bring his tour to the U.S. out of fear that ICE would target concertgoers. "I've enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S.," he told *i-D*. "But there was the issue of — like, f---ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it's something that we were talking about and very concerned about."

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has since vowed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers will monitor the Super Bowl in February. Prior to that, former Trump campaign manager and Noem's informal advisor Corey Lewandowski threatened this possibility during a visit to *The Benny Show *where he stated, "There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else."

Trump is only the latest right-wing commentator to express outrage over the halftime show pick. Earlier this week, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed concern over "demonic sexual performances" at the Super Bowl, while commentator Tomi Lahren incorrectly suggested that the triple Grammy-winner is "not an American artist. Bad Bunny was born in Puerto Rico and has thus been a U.S. citizen since birth.
Taking all the criticism in stride, Bad Bunny hosted *Saturday Night Live* this past weekend, where he celebrated this latest achievement and warned Americans that they have "four months to learn" Spanish ahead of his performance.
The 2026 Super Bowl halftime show takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, the home field of the San Francisco 49ers, on Feb. 8, 2026.**
