- At least three gunshots were fired through a window at an ABC-affiliated television station.

- Police say nobody was injured in the incident.

- The Tegna-owned station was the site of protests over Jimmy Kimmel's suspension one day prior.

An ABC news station in Sacramento was struck by gunfire on Friday.**

"Just after 1:30 p.m. PT, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Broadway at ABC10," the Sacramento Police Department said in a statement provided to **. "Responding officers observed at least three gunshots into a window of the building. The building was occupied and, fortunately, nobody was injured."

Sacramento police provided an update to EW on Saturday. "Thanks to the prompt and diligent work of our responding officers and investigators, the suspect vehicle was identified, leading officers to a residence in the 5400 block of Carlson Drive," they said in a follow-up statement. "The suspect, 64-year-old Anibal Hernandezsantana of Sacramento, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building, and negligent discharge of a firearm. He will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail."

The statement continued, "The motive remains under investigation, and we would like to thank the FBI for providing resources in support of this investigation."

According to a different local news station, CBS News Sacramento, police currently "are classifying the incident as a drive-by shooting as it appears a vehicle drove by the building, fired, then drove away."

ABC10 is owned by Tegna, which has entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by Nexstar Media Group for $6.2 billion, a transaction that requires the approval of the Federal Communications Commission. Nexstar made headlines this week after it announced that its ABC affiliates would be preempting *Jimmy Kimmel Live* in the wake of Kimmel's comments about the death of Charlie Kirk, which then prompted ABC to announce that it is pulling the show from the air indefinitely.

Just hours before ABC's announcement, FCC chair Brendan Carr encouraged local broadcasters to preempt Kimmel's show and called for ABC's parent company, Disney, to step in to the issue, claiming that the late-night host's comments "appears to be some of the sickest conduct possible" during an interview with *The Benny Show*.

On Thursday, the same ABC10 news station was the site of a protest in response to Kimmel going off the air. Protestors were seen holding signs reading "Fight Back, "Don't Silence Jimmy Kimmel," and "Elmo. Colbert. Kimmel. Who's next??? Shame on you ABC."

Tegna released the following statement on the shooting, per ABC7: "We can confirm that shots were fired into our station at KXTV earlier today. While details are still limited, importantly, all of our employees are safe and unharmed. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and have taken additional measures to ensure the continued safety of our employees."

An ** request for comment was not immediately returned by the company on Friday.
