Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are back at the *Live* table for a new season — and they've already returned to the art of having playful spats before 10 a.m. local time.

After the show's Tuesday morning return from its annual summer hiatus, Ripa and Consuelos got into a comical argument on Wednesday over a common occurrence amid their married life: choosing which restaurant to go to for dinner.

Consuelos revealed that, after a nine-hour flight from Italy, he recently got off the plane and decided to go to dinner with his wife, whom he said he told that he'd go "wherever you want" in New York City.**

"I named four restaurants," Ripa replied, to which Consuelos countered, "I just got off a plane! You tell me where we're going. You decide, I don't want to decide. I don't want to make the decision. Just tell me where I'm going."

Ripa then signaled a "flag on the play," and said that the version of events her husband presented didn't quite line up with her memory.

Consuelos jumped in to quip, "Just before you start, I'd like a little honesty," he said, as the audience gasped at the assertion. "Not exaggeration, I'd love a little honesty.... just be honest. You still want to take this time out? You want to pick up the flag?"

Ripa then told the audience that her husband took a walk after his flight, and that "it exhausted him" to the point that "he showered, and he crawled into the bed in his underwear and promptly started falling asleep" before their dinner plans.

"I said, 'Do you still want to go to dinner?' And he was like, 'Yeah, just pick a place,'" Ripa remembered. "And I was like, 'Which of the places that I recommended would you like to go to?'"

She maintained that Consuelos told her to pick, but she wanted him to take control of the plans because "he's the one with the dietary restrictions" between the two of them.

"We'd already made the reservation by that point," Mark claimed, though Ripa replied, "No, we did not."

Consuelos continued to go over the half-baked plan and said that he needed to take a quick nap to recover from his European journey.

"If you're on a nine-hour flight and you can't wedge in some sleep there, I don't know what to say to you," Ripa clapped back. "Because I know you fell asleep at the restaurant in the middle of dinner, so I know that sleeping in a public space is not a thing for you."

Ripa finished the discussion by telling her husband, "It's so wild that you won't take any initiative," before Consuelos admitted, "I want you to do it. I like how you do it."

The couple then moved on with the rest of the show, and Wednesday's playful spat joined other on-air disagreements amid the couple's TV legacy, including another recent occurrence where Ripa called out her husband for "totally negating his own argument" about how to justify telling children "no" when they want to do something.
