Oh, here we go again.

A new Taylor Swift era is coming Friday, Oct. 3, when the 14-time Grammy winner releases her 12th studio album, *The Life of a Showgirl*. But why did she choose that date?

The third of October has several sneaky connections to the singer, who appeared on boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason's *New Heights* podcast Wednesday to tell all about the new record. For starters, the date, 10/3, adds up to 13, which is famously Swift's favorite, lucky number (and references her birthday, which is Dec. 13).

"[It's] never not annoying," Swift joked of the 13 reference in the release date. "Always gonna try to force a 13 into the situation. And this one was right there."

And that first week in October is a big one for the Kelce family. As Jason revealed on the podcast, Travis' birthday is the fifth of the month, Jason's daughter Wyatt's is the second, and Jason and Travis' mom, Donna, was born on Oct. 9. (Or, as Swift put it, "These Libras.")

The album also features a track called "Opalite," which could refer to the gemstone opal, the official birthstone of October, so at least one song likely has connections to the spooky month.

Oct. 3 is also, interestingly, National Boyfriend Day. And for *Mean Girls* fans, it's also famously Mean Girls Day. That is, the day Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) famously turned to Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) in math class and asked for the date. Cue the memes!

Then, of course, there's the fact that the month is just a popular choice of Swift's — the singer has dropped five other studio albums in the month of October, with *Showgirl* being her sixth. She also technically released the re-recorded version of her album, *1989*, in October as well.

The singer peeled back the curtain on her glittery new album, *The Life of a Showgirl*, on the podcast on Wednesday. During the conversation, she revealed the record's cover, full tracklist, and collaborators for the project, which has 12 tracks and is produced entirely by Swift with Max Martin and Shellback (who previously worked on the singer-songwriter's *Red*, *1989*, and *Reputation* albums).

As for *Showgirl'*s theme, Swift said, "I would say it's everything that was going on behind the curtain," and her goals for the album are "melodies that were so infectious that you're almost angry at it and lyrics that are just as vivid but crisp and focused and completely intentional."

Travis also added his two cents, telling viewers, "They're all 12 bangers. It's a lot more upbeat and it's a lot more like fun pop, like excitement. And so I think it's a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on *Tortured Poets* for sure."

Swifties will find out for themselves when *The Life of a Showgirl* releases Oct. 3.
