- *The View* is on a hiatus, but Ana Navarro still used her platform to advise Gloria Gaynor against Donald Trump.

- The Republican cohost said Gaynor should reject Trump's Kennedy Center honor.

- Navarro said LGBTQ people are suffering under Trump, and that the community helped build Gaynor's fan base.

*The View* cohost Ana Navarro might be on a summer break, but she's still using her public platform to call for change in the political sector — particularly after singer Gloria Gaynor was selected by Donald Trump as one of the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees.

The registered Republican shared Thursday morning an impassioned plea calling for Gaynor to reject Trump's Kennedy Center award, highlighting the "I Will Survive" icon's large LGBTQ fan base as a primary reason to reject the accolade amid the president's anti-trans and anti-community stances that have drawn widespread criticism.

"A few years ago, I got to briefly meet [Gloria Gaynor] at a concert in Miami. She gifted me a keychain that belted out 'I Will Survive,' when you pressed it. Let's just say, during first Trump term, I pressed it til it ran out of batteries," Navarro began in her Instagram post. "Yesterday, Trump announced he picked her to receive a Kennedy Center Honor, which he plans to host."

She then called Gaynor "a goddess" who "deserves all the flowers that come her way," but stressed that Gaynor should turn down the forthcoming award.**

"I wish she wouldn't accept an award from the hands of a man who has attacked the rights and history of women, people of color and LGBTQ," Navarro continued. "The gay community in particular, helped turn her signature song into an anthem."

Navarro, 53, finished by calling Trump "a stain on the prestige and significance of the KCH," and urged Gaynor, 81, once again, "Don't do it, Gloria!"

Under his controversial leadership as the Kennedy Center's chairman, Trump announced Wednesday the intended honorees for the 2025 ceremony, which, besides Gaynor, included George Strait, Kiss, Michael Crawford, and Trump-supporting *Rocky* star Sylvester Stallone.

Presented at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Kennedy Center Honors typically recognize lifetime achievement in the world of entertainment. In the past, honorees have included Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Billy Crystal, Quincy Jones, Rita Moreno, Dick Van Dyke, Tina Turner, and Dolly Parton, among others.

Trump additionally announced that he'll host the ceremony, saying, "We're going to bring it to a higher level than it ever hit."

His hosting duties come amid a turbulent stretch for the Kennedy Center. In February, Trump's team removed 18 members from the center's board who were appointed by President Joe Biden. He then instated his own appointees, including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Vice President JD Vance's wife, Usha Vance, to the board, before naming himself as the chairman.

Trump announced his intention to take more control and ownership of program selection, and appointed Richard Grenell as the center's director, leading many other appointees and advisors to leave — namely Shonda Rhimes and Renée Fleming.

Trump's White House has also repeatedly spoken out against *The View* and its cohosts in recent weeks, with an exclusive statement to EW indicating that the team wanted Joy Behar to move out of the country, while another suggested that the political-leaning talk show could be "pulled off the air" like Stephen Colbert's *Late Show* if the program doesn't check its liberal bias.

*The View* returns in early September for season 29, with episodes resuming at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
