Two decades before saying LGBTQ+ representation has made him "scared to go to the movies," Snoop Dogg guest-starred on the groundbreaking lesbian drama, *The L Word*... but nobody tell his grandkids that.

Earlier this week, the Grammy-winner sparked outrage by complaining about queer representation in Pixar's 2022 feature *Lightyear*, which he went to see with his grandson. Since then, several social media users have pointed out Snoop didn't always take issue with gay people onscreen — at least not in 2004, when he appeared on the beloved show about a group of close-knit lesbians.

"Here's Snoop Dogg on Season 1 of *The L Word* coming onto Bette (Jennifer Beals) after she reveals she's a lesbian," wrote influencer Evan Ross Katz, sharing photos of the episode on Instagram. "Cut to two decades later and he's running his mouth on some podcast saying he's 'scared to go to the movies' after merely seeing a lesbian couple. Wonder what changed!"

Elsewhere, an X user lamented that the rapper was "perfectly fine watching Bette and Tina kiss but now it 'scares' him to watch a kiss between two women who are animated characters in a Buzz Lightyear movie? Give me a f---ing break."

Back in 2004, Snoop joined the show for two episodes as fictional rapper, Slim Daddy, who shoots a music video with Kit Porter (Pam Grier) just as her sister Bette (Beals) is beginning what will become a multi-season relationship with her partner, Tina (Laurel Holloman). The trailblazing Showtime series was not only one of the first TV shows to focus on the lives and relationships of lesbian ad bisexual women, but was also written and directed by predominantly queer women.

Fast forward to 2025, Snoop was taken aback that *Lightyear* included a character with two moms.

"What you see is what you see, and they're putting it everywhere," he said of queer representation during an appearance on Sarah Fontenot's *It's Giving* podcast. Snoop then recalled his grandson asking how it was possible for two women to have a baby, which he says "threw me for a loop."

He added that the experience "f---ed me up. I'm like, scared to go to the movies. Y'all throwing me in the middle of s--- that I don't have an answer for."

Representatives for Snoop did not immediately respond to *'s *request* *for comment.

This is not Snoop's first time coming under fire for anti-gay remarks. He was previously criticized for calling Caitlyn Jenner a "science project," and using a homophobic slur in a 2014 Instagram caption. The rapper's latest comments have led to calls for him to be replaced as the headline entertainer at the upcoming Australian Football League's Grand Final.
