**This article contains spoilers for the series finale of *Upload*, "Mile End."**
*Upload* started with Nathan (Robbie Amell) dying. So perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised that it ended the same way.
The Prime Video comedy has launched its final four episodes, which see Nora (Andy Allo) say goodbye to the man she loves, Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) get her happy ending with the (identical) man she loves, Luke (Kevin Bigley) sacrifice himself to save the day, and Aleesha (Zainab Johnson)… become a spy?
** spoke with series star Robbie Amell about Nathan's ending and saying goodbye to the series.

**: At what point did you know the ending? Had you known for a long time?**
**ROBBIE AMELL:** No, I started to think that that was the direction it was going to go, but I wasn't sure. There's always the idea of like, maybe he's just going to upload again. I got the finale script from [series creator Greg Daniels] the night before we were going to table-read it, and I texted him, "That was the most beautiful thing I've ever read." I love it. Yes, it's very sad. But this is a guy who died in the first episode of the show. And one of the first questions I was asked about this show during interviews was, "If you could, if you could upload, would you?" And my answer was always, "I would upload for as long as I wanted to, and then I would see what's next."
And I think that when Ingrid uploaded Nathan, it was like a little second life for him. You get to see how much this guy changes. He was pretty egotistical and self-centered when you first met him. This is a guy who would've done anything to save himself at the beginning of the show. And now he just wants the person he loves to be happy.
**That scene when he told her that he likes who he is now…**
Sometimes when you're doing a scene like that, you're trying to find the emotion, and with this one, the second I read it, it was like, "Okay, try and fight all the emotion that you're feeling right now." Greg is so good at writing those honest, emotional scenes, especially between two people. And Andy and I got to shoot that scene as one of our final scenes together.

Robbie Amell as Nathan on 'Upload'.
**You said that was one of the last things. What was the actual last thing you filmed? **
The actual final scene of the show, which was kind of cool. Then Andy, Zainab, me and Allegra all got tattoos for the final season. We got five-star tattoos. I honestly just didn't know what to get the cast as a wrap gift. [*Laughs*] It was seven years of my life and I was like, "I'm going to get a small tattoo to commemorate the wrap." I didn't expect anyone to say yes. And then Kevin was like, "I love you guys, but I don't have any tattoos and I'm not starting now." [*Laughs*]**
**Speaking of, Luke dying was such a bummer.**
I agree. But look, this is a guy who is a veteran, and he's the ultimate best friend. And what says bravery and best friend more than sacrificing yourself for your friends? It is the hero's ending. And it killed me to read it, but it really fits Luke. Sticking the landing is really tough on a show, and I think Greg did such a good job of giving these characters their moments and giving people closure.**
**I really loved the ring of memories.**
I know, people always ask me, "What technology would would you want from *Upload*?" The memory parlor. Let me pull my memories and let me watch them, because I can't f‑‑‑ing remember 'em.

**Does it feel like it's ended for you yet?**
I haven't watched the final season yet. I'm going to watch this once and I'm going to do it on Aug. 25 with my friends and my family. My mom watches everything I do, but not all of my friends are fans of everything I've ever done. And this is a show that my friends love and I just want to experience it with them.
I was worried we weren't going to get that final season. So that made it a lot easier to shoot the final season, because it felt like such a privilege to get to end the show and have a series finale. It's just been a really special project where I really am playing a version of myself. So I think that's part of the reason it doesn't feel like it's over too much, because it wasn't like I was playing a character.
**So Nathan's still alive. He's…**
Just in Toronto. [*Laughs*]
