David Spade is recalling an intense encounter with some unrelenting autograph hunters.

On the latest episode of his *Fly on the Wall* podcast* *with cohost Dana Carvey, the actor and comedian revealed that the unsettling incident occurred after he performed at a recent stand-up show in Los Angeles. A group of autograph seekers followed him from the show to his home, and Spade initially thought he was about to become the victim of a carjacking.

"I have a little road that goes up to my mansion," Spade said, before stopping himself. "A mansion, what am I saying? This is other people's words."**

Carvey quipped, "My house could fit inside your kitchen, let's put it that way."**

"I'm going up this crummy little street, which is pretty skinny," Spade continued. "And there's two cars behind me. I don't even notice. They're kind of on my ass. I'm like, 'Oh s‑‑‑.' It's pitch-black up there. It's a perfect place for carjacking [or a] robbery." Spade then pulled over before he reached his driveway, retrieving his pepper spray and hoping the vehicle would pass him.

However, "They pull up next to me and stopped," he said. "Five guys in a car. And I got my window cracked." What do they say to him? "Hey, can you sign a bunch of s‑‑‑? We got all this stuff. We got some Funkos." Spade told them to "get the f‑‑‑ out of here."**

"They followed me from the Improv, two cars," he added. "They almost got sprayed. And then I went into my driveway. I was kind of nervous now. I go, if they come behind me, I'm gonna get the gun. Just show it to him like, 'Hey, this is for real. Now you're in my house. You can't do this.'"

The comedian stressed that the men weren't fans, but rather people in the business of obtaining autographs for profit. "They're not really fans. I love fans, but we talked about this before, it's not fans," Spade said. "It's a business. They followed me all the way home. That's even scarier."
