- Brendan Fraser recalled at a *Mummy* reunion panel that a horse bit costar John Hannah "in the nipple."
- Hannah laughed as he admitted he was "smoking a lot of weed" at the time.**
- The 1999 movie went on to spawn several sequels.
Mummies are usually kept under wraps, but Brendan Fraser recently recalled that his* The Mummy* costar John Hannah's nipples were right out in the open for a hungry horse to munch on during production of the 1999 blockbuster.
Speaking to the crowd assembled at a Fan Expo Chicago cast reunion across the weekend of Aug. 16, Fraser and Hannah joined forces with fellow performers Patricia Velasquez and Oded Fehr for a reflection on their wild time making the movie.
"Remember the time John got bit in the nipple by a horse?" 56-year-old Fraser asked as the crowd began to laugh.
Hannah, 63, replied, confirming that "I think I was smoking a lot of weed at the time" of the film's production.

The actor said that, amid the mishap, he still "learned everything about what I was supposed to be doing" from costar Kevin J. O'Connor.****"Because I got there and I was looking at Brendan being a hero, and Patricia and Rachel being beautiful heroines, heroes in their own right. Oded, a hero. Arnold's kind of a hero in a bad guy sort of way, but you sort of root for them," he reflected. "And I was like, well, what? And Kevin is really, really funny and creepy and just brilliantly able to transform into whatever it is. I mean that in a nice way!"**
"Other than getting bitten by horses, stood on by camels, chasing scorpions and snakes around that bloody thing that we were in, the, what do you call, volcano thing?" he continued. "Other than that, I was just there for the free food and wine and weed."

When asked about the most powerful thing they experienced in a land rife with as much history as Egypt, Hannah had a similarly comical answer.
"Diarrhea. Definitely diarrhea. Every one of us, honestly, it was extraordinary, inexplicable, unbelievable amounts of s---," he said as the audience laughed once again. "I never thought I had so much s--- in me."

Universal attempted to again reboot the property with Tom Cruise in 2017, though its underperformance at the worldwide box office led director Alex Kurtzman to label it in an interview with The Playlist as "probably the biggest failure" of his life.
