Annette Bening is joining the sprawling *Yellowstone* universe.

The Academy Award nominee has been cast in the spinoff series *The Dutton Ranch* (working title) in a lead role opposite returning stars Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little, Paramount announced on Monday. Bening will play a character named Beulah Jackson, described as the powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.

A logline reads as follows: "Beth Dutton (Reilley) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter (Little) becomes the man he's supposed to be."**

From executive producer Taylor Sheridan, the series will hail from showrunner Chad Feehan, who most recently collaborated with Sheridan on the David Oyelowo-led miniseries *Lawmen: Bass Reeves*, about the first Black U.S. Marshal.

Reilly and Hauser will also executive produce alongside Feehan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox.**

As for the versatile and venerable Bening, *The Dutton Ranch *will mark her first major foray into television. She recently appeared in the 2024 Peacock miniseries *Apples Never Fall*, but is best known for her turn in acclaimed films such as *American Beauty, 20th Century Women, *and *The Kids Are All Right.* Bening's most recent credits include *Poolman* from director and star Chris Pine and the title role of *Nyad, *about the swimmer Diana Nyad for which she earned her fifth Oscar nomination.
