During its three-season run, *And Just Like That* brought back several characters from the *Sex and the City* universe, including John Corbett's Aidan Shaw, Molly Price's Susan Sharon, Candice Bergen's Enid Frick, and — briefly — Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones. (Justice for Skipper!)
In a new interview with **, *AJLT* writer Julie Rottenberg reveals that Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) almost ran into another ex — one she almost got arrested over.
"In the writers' room, every now and then, we'd be like, 'Do we wanna run into Berger all these years later?'" she recalls. "He probably has a family and kids. That's fun for us as fans of the original show."
Yes, dear readers, she means Ron Livingston's Jack Berger, a.k.a. the guy who broke up with Carrie on a Post-It that read, "I'm sorry, I can't, don't hate me."
In an effort to get over the split, Carrie recruited Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha for a night out on the town — during which she got busted by a cop for smoking pot on the street.

Alas, we'll never know if Carrie still holds a grudge against her insecure ex.
In addition to bringing back notable *SATC* faces — and blink-and-you'll-miss them characters, likeAndy Cohen's shoe salesman — *And Just Like That* also recruited actors who appeared as a memorable character on *SATC* — but gave them an entirely new role. Rosemarie Dewitt, who played a colleague of Miranda's in season 6 of *SATC*, showed up in *And Just Like That* as Aidan's ex-wife, Kathy.
James Remar says his 'Sex and the City' character was the 'best boyfriend on the show'

Ben Stiller's daughter's 'And Just Like That' role shares odd connection to her grandma on 'SATC'

"Some of them were Easter eggs for careful viewers," Rottenberg told EW. "Some of them were probably actors we thought, "So much time had passed. It was such a small part that you wouldn't clock this person playing another part." I don't know if you clocked that the banker who Seema [Sarita Choudhury] goes to ask for a loan, played by Stephanie Cannon, she was the banker in the original series who rejected Carrie's loan."
Oh, and remember the guy who taught Charlotte tap dancing in season 4? That's Andre De Shields, who played Gene, a mentor working with Nya (Karen Pittman), in season 2 of *AJLT*.

"Sometimes it was fun. Sometimes it's we love to work with actors who we couldn't get enough of," said Rottenberg of recycling their favorite performers. "But it's also its own universe. So we tried to walk the line between acknowledging there are gonna be people paying very close attention... If we know nothing else, it's the people pay very close attention."
