Adam Scott briefly played Michael C. Hall's boyfriend on *Six Feet Under*, but he recently revealed that the two competed for the role of David Fisher.

On a recent episode of *Good Hang*, host Amy Poehler asked the *Severance* actor if there were any memorable roles he was close to getting. He shared that he nearly played the younger Fisher brother on the HBO black comedy.

"It wouldn't be nearly as good if I had done it because he was perfect and incredible," Scott said. "He's incredible and I wasn't ready."

Still, losing the role was difficult for Scott, who said he nearly gave up acting after it happened. He said it was "painful" when the show became a hit.

"That was hard," he said. "But, you know, it's also important that you have those experiences."

The *Parks and Rec* actor later guest starred as Ben Cooper, David Fisher's love interest, for two episodes in season 2 of *Six Feet Under.* The two later break up after David confesses he still has feelings for his on-and-off boyfriend Keith (Mathew St. Patrick).

Scott recalled that the experience was "fun" and that Hall was "lovely."

Poehler later shared that the *Parks and Rec* finale, which features flash-forwards for all of the main characters, was inspired by the end of *Six Feet Under. *The HBO show ended by showing the future deaths of the ensemble.

"Mike Schur and I were talking about the idea that in comedies, you don't always get to see the future," she said. "You don't always get to see what happens to these characters that you've grown to love. And so, we were so blown away by the *Six Feet Under *finale."
