The life of a showgirl does not, in fact, involve performing on the world's biggest musical stage.

Despite being the world's biggest pop star, Taylor Swift explained why she won't perform at the Super Bowl halftime show any time soon during a wide-ranging conversation with *Tonight Show* host Jimmy Fallon.

On Monday night's episode, Fallon went through a list of rumors about the 35-year-old and asked her to confirm which were true and which were false.

Near the end of the chat, Fallon asked Swift about years-long rumors that she'd headline the halftime show, even amid her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.**** "Jay-Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are really close. They sometimes will call and say, 'How does she feel?' That's not like, an official offer or a conference room conversation," Swift explained, telling Fallon that she's been contacted for discussions about performing at the show.

She said that the Apple Music team often gauges how she feels about doing the show "in general," and that the line of communication is open and honest.

"We're always able to tell him the truth, which is that I'm in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. That's violent chess. That's gladiators without swords. That is dangerous," Swift explained. "The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field."

She then asked, "Can you imagine if he's out there every single week, putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I'm like, 'I wonder what my choreo should be? I think we should do two verses of 'Shake It Off' into 'Blank Space' into 'Cool Summer' would be great!'"

She added that "this has nothing to do with Travis," and that her fiancé would "love for me to do it," but that she's simply "too locked in" to agree to a halftime show performance.

Other high-profile entertainers who've headlined the Super Bowl over the last decade include Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Kendrick Lamar, with Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny set to headline the 2026 edition.

Swift has been a regular presence at NFL games ever since she began her relationship with Kelce, who also worked with her on the rollout for her new album,* The Life of a Showgirl*, when he hosted an appearance by Swift on his podcast to announce the album's existence earlier this year.**
