Stevie Nicks celebrated the recent re-release of her and Lindsey Buckingham's 1973 album, *Buckingham Nicks*, by taking fans down memory lane.

On Monday, the 77-year-old singer shared a letter she sent to her parents while recording the iconic album on Instagram for fans to read. The handwritten note, which was sent on stationery from Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Calif., was sent a year before Nicks and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974.

"I wanted to share this letter I wrote to my family while Lindsey and I were making *Buckingham Nicks*," the legendary singer-songwriter captioned the post. "My mom saved it and it's been in a drawer for over 50 years."

In the letter, the "Rhiannon" singer wrote that she was "getting very tired of listening to over 12 hours of music per day" but that she was confident "it will pay off in the end."

"And when I am sitting in my small but luxurious Beverly Hills home overlooking my small but tasteful pool that is totally secluded, where I can sun in the nude and tan my entire fat body while waiting for my plastic surgery leg lift - it will all be worth it," Nicks added in her letter. "Otherwise, everything here is just 'peach-y.' "

The then-aspiring rock star wrote that she hoped her "little family is doing fine and not working too hard" before joking that her father, Jess Nicks, was "already beautifully tan and lythe."

"How sickening that he looks better than I do at 47(?) and I'm only 25. (Give me a break, Dad!)," she wrote at the time.

She continued, "Speaking of being almost 25 - I have decided that we should set aside the entire month of May to celebrate the fact that I am now 1 quarter of a century old. A new landmark like this should not simply be passed over as yet another birthday, but should include a gala celebration."

"I shall leave it to the three of you to plan it. By the way, presents will be accepted any time after the first of May - no C.O.D's please," she wrote of her then upcoming birthday, which falls on May 26.

Before saying goodbye, Nicks told her family she wished "you could be here to hear some of this stuff."

"By the way - Dad and Chris - that rock and roll tune that you both liked ("Baby Baby, don't treat me so bad") with the fancy guitar work is almost finished and Lindsey may go down in history as one of 'greats' in guitar playing. It really is quite amazing," she wrote, referencing an early cut of what would become the *Buckingham Nicks* track "Don't Let Me Down Again."

Nicks concluded by sending more love to her family and asking that they "hold good thoughts about this thing."

Her family's good thoughts — and the undeniable talent on Nicks and Buckingham's joint album — led to a record that famously caught the attention of Mick Fleetwood while he was on a studio tour in 1974. Fleetwood then invited the pair to join Fleetwood Mac. And the rest, as they say, is history. **

*Buckingham Nicks, *which marks Nicks and Buckingham's only studio album as a duo, was reissued on Sept. 19, making its digital debut on streaming platforms. The album was also reissued on two limited vinyl editions, with the tracks remastered with files sourced from the original analog master tapes.

While the album wasn't a huge success in its time, it showcased the harmonies and haunting melodies of Buckingham and Nicks as songwriters.**

"[We] knew what we had as a duo, two songwriters that sang really well together. And it was a very natural thing, from the beginning," Nicks said in the liner notes, echoed by Buckingham's remarks that "it stands up in a way you hope it would, by these two kids who were pretty young to be doing that work."

Fans can also catch the Fleetwood Mac alum — just Nicks, of course — on her ongoing solo tour. Following the singer rescheduling some August and September dates after fracturing her shoulder, the tour is scheduled to resume on Oct. 1.

"The concert schedule will resume on Wednesday, October 1st in Portland, Oregon," a statement announcing the pause reads in part. "Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone soon and apologizes to the fans for this inconvenience." **
