Miles Teller brought his favorite date to the opening night of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

This year's edition kicked off on Saturday, Oct. 25, with Teller attending a screening of his latest film, Eternity, and receiving a special honor. Much of the star's family joined him at the event, including his "gramma" — and longtime companion at the festival — Leona Flowers.

"Yeah, I've just been bringing her to this … I brought her to the festival in like 2010 and she lived in Florida forever and so she would just fly up for this," Teller told PEOPLE of his grandmother at the festival. "She's been, I think, [for] 13 years. She's only missed two."

Teller posed for photos on the red carpet of the Georgia festival with several of his loved ones, including his sister, Dana, and — of course — his grandma. Plus, he and Flowers posed for separate shots, the latter hugging The Gorge actor tightly and squeezing his hand as they hit the step-and-repeat together.

The grandson-grandmother duo also shared a sweet moment in one photo as Teller planted a smooch on her forehead. Elsewhere at the event, Dana also snapped a picture with the siblings' grandparent, whom the stand-up comedian later declared "the mayor of the festival" in an Instagram Stories post.

The Whiplash actor's family not only attended the kick-off gala for a screening of the star's new A24 film, but also to support him as he received the SCAD Savannah Film Festival's distinguished performance award.

"With a steadily successful career that continues to expand with each role, Miles Teller has established himself as a leading man in Hollywood," the festival website reads, citing the actor's performances in Top Gun: Maverick, The Spectacular Now, Footloose and more.

Flowers shared her excitement in an X post weeks before the event.

"Happily anticipating attending the Savannah Film Festival where Miles' latest film ETERNITY is the opening night event," she wrote on Oct. 6.

She also revealed that more of Teller's family would also be supporting him at the event, adding, "Grandchildren Dana, with Brooks, Lara, & Jesse with Nadia, will also be attending to be a part of the fun and the fans of their famous cousin."

"A joy for me. 🎉," she concluded the post.

At the opening night, Teller also spoke with PEOPLE about Eternity. The romantic comedy, which debuted at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in September, stars the actor as an everyman who fights for his wife (Elizabeth Olsen) in the afterlife after she reunites with her chiseled first love (Callum Turner).

On what drew him to the forthcoming film, Teller told PEOPLE, "It was just highly original. I think it kind of feels like a throwback to a lot of those romantic comedies from the '80s and '90s."

"There are a lot of very, you know, strong comedies, but this is incredibly tenderhearted. And it never loses its grounding," he continued. "I mean, even though it's a comedy and we're putting afterlife in this kind of kitschy, cool world, it's still like, 'Who are you going to spend the rest of your life with?' And those questions are deep, and you have to treat them with respect."

"I just think it's a really fun film, too," he added of the rom-com.
