Love binds the Duncans together just as tightly as their secrets, making family both their greatest weapon — and their greatest weakness — in BET+'s The Family Business.
The crime drama, based on Carl Weber's bestselling book series of the same name, follows the wealthy and powerful Duncan family, who run the upscale Duncan Motors car dealership in New York as a front for their secret criminal empire.
Led by patriarch L.C. Duncan (Ernie Hudson) and matriarch Charlotte "Chippy" Duncan (Valarie Pettiford), the family navigates dangerous rivalries, tests of their loyalties and power struggles while trying to protect their legacy. Now in season 6, which premiered Oct. 23, L.C. and Chippy's marriage is tested like never before, and the shocking discovery of Roman (Deyshaun Tucker) — a child stolen from them at birth — forces the family to confront painful secrets from their past.
In real life, the cast deals with far more everyday problems than their characters do. In April 2024, Hudson joked with PEOPLE that after 40 years of marriage to his wife, Linda Kingsberg, their biggest disagreements are over simple things like "toilet paper [and] which way it rolls."

Hudson, who plays the Duncan family patriarch, L.C., has been married to Kingsberg since 1985.
During an appearance on Sherri in October 2025, the actor reflected on 40 years of marriage.
"I can't imagine life without her," Hudson said. "I really have to give her credit for being patient with me, to allow me the time to grow up. I've been a really good husband for maybe 20 of those years. It took me a while to understand that everything I do affects her."
The pair share two sons, Andrew and Ross. Hudson is a father to another two sons from his previous marriage to Jeannie Moore.

Pettiford, who portrays the Duncan family matriarch, Charlotte, is pretty private about her personal life. She was previously married to Tony Rader, per Broadway World.
However, Pettiford told Soap Opera Digest in October 2024 that "family is everything" to her.

Darrin Dewitt Henson, who plays L.C. and Charlotte's son Orlando, is married to model Taurey Henson.
It's unclear when the couple wed, but they've been husband and wife since at least 2022, per her Instagram.
During a joint appearance on Fox 26 Houston in December 2023, Darrin and Taurey were asked about the "secret" to marriage, to which the actor responded, "Respect and love [and] responsibility. We have a great responsibility to each other, for each other."
Darrin was previously married to Rachelle Henson. Although their marriage only lasted six months, he told theJasmineBrand, the exes are "really good friends" and co-parents to their daughter.

Tami Roman, who plays L.C. and Charlotte's daughter, London, shares her life with her husband, Reginald Youngblood.
After three years of dating, the couple wed in August 2018 in Las Vegas.
"Reggie is my homie, lover, best friend, protector and overall safe place," Roman wrote on Instagram in honor of their seventh anniversary. "Being with him has made me better and God knew he was the one for me."
The Basketball Wives alum was previously married to former NBA player Kenny Anderson from 1994 to 2001. They share two daughters: Lyric and Jazz.

"When we lie in bed, we study [lines] with each other. It makes it kind of cool," Emilio shared on Power 106 Los Angeles in 2018.
The couple share a son, Rocko. Emelio is also a dad to son Emilio Jr. and daughter Yanel from a previous relationship. Yadi also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
