Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Ethan Peck is teasing what fans can expect from the show's upcoming fourth season.
During an October 2025 Star Trek panel at the New York Comic Con, Peck referenced that his character, Mr. Spock, has an iconic friendship with Captain James T. Kirk. The characters were introduced in the '60s science fiction series, Star Trek: The Original Series. On the show, Spock, played by the late Leonard Nimoy, and Kirk, played by William Shatner, went on many adventures together, usually defeating their adversaries through their respective strengths and their unwavering loyalty to each other, as well as other members of the USS Enterprise.
While speaking on the Star Trek panel, Peck also noted that Star Trek: SNW is a prequel to Star Trek: TOS, meaning he is playing a younger version of Spock. He said he believed Spock's romantic relationships with Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) and Lieutenant La'An Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) will help strength the half-Vulcan's connection to Kirk.
"I think these relationships are are helping us find the Spock that we end up with in the original series," said Peck during New York Comic Con. "It's so interesting because he's had these very intimate relationships with Chapel and La'an, and then with that he will then have with Kirk and I think that these relationships will inform his relationship with Kirk in a really interesting way."
Peck also said he believed Spock and Kirk, played by Paul Wesley, had an "instant connection" when they first met in Star Trek: SNW Season 2, Episode 6, which premiered in 2023.
"It's sort of like a platonic falling in love, I'd like to call it," said Peck.
He also teased that fans can expect Spock and Kirk to get closer in Season 4, which does not yet have a release date.
"I'm so excited to see Paul bring his wit and his charm to this character, to bring us closer together, Spock and Kirk. And hopefully we'll see more of that. I don't know. I don't know if we will, but it might be Season 4. Not sure," teased Peck, causing the audience to laugh.

Wesley and Peck spoke about their Star Trek characters in a June 2023 interview with TVLine. Wesley said he knew the significance of Spock and Kirk's first interaction. He also theorized why Kirk is immediately drawn to Spock.
"I think Kirk, from my perspective, was drawn to this man for whatever reason and wanted to meet him and wanted to talk to him and found him intriguing," said Wesley to the publication. "And I do think we tend to seek out people that are going to fulfill something in us that we need to explore. And for whatever, reason Spock's logic or I don't know what it is. I think sometimes you can't put it into words. And that's what makes things kind of magical."
Peck also said that he believed Spock is both "intrigued" and "very skeptical" of Kirk because of his charisma.
