With her luck, Tori Spelling would get teased in the script of *Scream. *Luckily, she didn't take the diss personally.
Spelling went on *Hate to Break It to Ya,* a podcast hosted by *Scream* actor Jamie Kennedy, and discussed the film. The *Beverly Hills, 90210 *star shared that she auditioned for the movie and saw a line in the script making fun of her.
In the 1996 slasher, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is talking with her best friend Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan) and Tatum's deputy sheriff brother Dewey (David Arquette). Tatum suggests that a movie should be made about Sidney's life, to which she responds, "With my luck, they'd cast Tori Spelling."

Spelling went ahead with the audition, although her manager suggested she should pull out.**
"My whole life has been a diss, so, like, self-deprecating came at a young age to me, like, because people made fun of me like that," she said. "I looked at that and I wasn't like, 'Oh my god, that hurts.' I was like, 'Oh yeah, story of my life. That's funny. I get it. I'm there.'"
The *Troop Beverly Hills* star did not get *Scream*, but being a good sport helped her land a small part in the sequel.
*Scream 2* calls back to the moment in the first film when Sidney suggests Spelling might play her. Spelling plays a version of Sidney in *Stab, *the movie within the movie.

When director Wes Craven offered her the cameo, he explained that the *Scream* team had nothing against her. The actress reassured him that she thought it was a funny gag and was excited by the idea of working with him.
"I think he thought I was going to be offended and, like, I would never do it," she said. "Meanwhile, I was like, I wanted to be, 'Done. I'm in, like, this is amazing.'"
