*Survivor 49* kicked off Wednesday night with two-hour premiere filled with projectile vomit, blatant puzzle copying, and a new bromance for the ages. But there is so much more that did not even make the final cut, including one deleted scene that shows the true yin and yang of the Uli tribe.
The scene, which can be watched above, begins with Shannon Fairweather talking the tribe through a little day three sunrise morning meditation on the beach.

"And just very slowly, whenever you're ready," she instructs the tribe, "opening your eyes, seeing the stunning sunlight, hitting the sand, feeling your body, maybe feeling a little bit more clear, a little bit more here, a little bit more ready to kill this thing and really do it!"
After that combination platter Zen pep talk, the tribe decides to investigate their Tree Mail situation. "Here at Uli, you know, on the surface it's paradise," Shannon tells us in a confessional interview. "But in reality, we're here to play *Survivor*, right? So everyone was ready to go check out Tree Mail."

'Survivor 49' host Jeff Probst calls first vote out 'clearly personal'

Not only does the tribe have their first message, but their Uli tribe flag is waiting for them as well, which causes lots of excitement. And that excitement only increases when Savannah Louie reads their first Tree Mail message: "Dangers slither in the jungle, deception surely strikes tonight. Who will be the first victim of the snuffer's venomous bite?"
Ah, notice of their first immunity challenge. It may seem odd that the contestants would be so amped to go take part in a competition that could end up sending one of them home, but this just in… *Survivor* players want to play *Survivor!* And after sitting around for 48 hours on their beach weaving palm fronds and not doing a lot else, the tribe was probably bursting to do something — *anything*.

And the entire thing has Jawan Pitts fired up! "Oh man, so we get our first Tree Mail," he recounts in an interview, "and it's just like beautiful! The fire is real. We open it up and we realize that we have a challenge today. This is our time to shine. We lost the first challenge. We didn't forget that. We're out for blood, you know?'"
I mean, not to get nitpicky, but a tribe truly out for blood probably would have *won* the next challenge, which Uli did not, coming in second place to competition-dominating Hina. So maybe they weren't actually out for blood, but out for immunity in the form of a mediocre-yet-still-strong-enough-challenge-performance. In which case… MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
