In the Hollywood guest star system, actors can be roasted by their agents on how they handle produce in cameo roles. This is one of their stories.

Adam Scott reminisced about his guest spot on *Law & Order* during an appearance on former *Parks and Recreation* costar Amy Poehler's *Good Hang* podcast, recounting the blunt message his agent relayed to him after the episode had aired. The anecdote came after Poehler asked if Scott ever appeared on the iconic franchise, given its history of cameos from stars before they've gotten their big break.

"I *was *on *Law & Order* once," Scott confirmed.

Poehler said she was "so jealous," noting, "That was my dream." She added, "I wasn't auditioning in that way. I didn't think I was a good enough actor, but I wanted to be on* Law & Order *so bad."**

When asked about the character he played, Scott quipped that his name was Timothy Dinkens, before conceding that he did not actually remember specifics. "I don't know what the name was," he said. But in one scene, "I was working at the grocery store arranging fruits or vegetables when they came up and first started talking to me," Scott recalled.

Not quite Timothy Dinkens. Scott is credited as Robbie Howell in a season 16 episode titled "America, Inc" that aired in the spring of 2006. The episode followed Sam Waterston's Jack McCoy as he prosecuted a man who murdered a military contractor, only for the prosecution to be interrupted by the apprehension of a terrorist.**

One thing Scott could remember was that his agent wasn't too impressed with one particular scene in which his character was questioned by police while working at a grocery store. "I remember my agent at the time calling me right after it aired and being like, 'You don't know how to handle those vegetables,'" the four-time Emmy nominee recalled. "'You weren't doing anything.'"**

The scene also featured Dennis Farina (Detective Joe Fontana), whom Scott called "so cool," and the "fantastic" Jesse L. Martin (Detective Ed Green). Pablo Schreiber also appeared in the episode as a culprit. "Pablo Schreiber and I were in court together and he ended up being guilty and I was the red herring I think," Scott recalled.

Poehler, ever the detective, looked up the episode during the interview to confirm the name of Scott's character, among other details. "The trail leads to a pair of perpetrators, another mercenary played by Pablo Schreiber, and the brother of one of Schreiber's fellow mercenaries who was killed in a roadside ambush by presumably Al Qaeda?" an incredulous Poehler read from internet search results.

"The brother is Adam Scott, and he is the only true innocent," Poehler concluded.

"That's right," Scott said.
