Dan Levy is back on TV after giving us the comedic phenomenon that was *Schitt's Creek*.

Netflix revealed *Big Mistakes* will be the beloved Canadian creative's first series since his nine-time Emmy-winning (and 19-time Emmy-nominated) show, which starred Catherine O'Hara, his father Eugene Levy, Annie Murphy, and himself as a dysfunctional posh family forced to live in the quaint rural town of Schitt's Creek after losing their wealth.

*Big Mistakes* is also Levy's first show as part of an overall deal he has with the global streaming platform through his production company, Not a Real Production Company. Together, they previously released his first feature film, *Good Grief*, which hit Netflix at the start of 2024.

As more details are slowly revealed about what the show entails, here's everything we know so far about *Big Mistakes*.

What is Big Mistakes about?

Details on *Big Mistakes*' eight-episode first season are sparse at the moment, but the gist is that it follows Nicky and Morgan, two "deeply incapable siblings" who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime, according to an official description from Netflix.

During a July appearance on *What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen*, Levy responded to an audience question by saying the sibling relationship is "equally dysfunctional" as David and Alexis' from *Schitt's Creek*, "in a wonderfully lovable sort of way."

"I love writing dysfunctional family comedy," Levy said. "I think it's the funniest little pool to pull from. So the challenge was finding a dynamic that was dysfunctional but not the same [as *Schitt's Creek*]. Different book, same shelf, let's just put it that way."

Who's in the Big Mistakes cast?

Levy, who also serves as co-creator and showrunner, will star as Nicky opposite Taylor Ortega (*Another Simple Favor*, *Ghosts*) as Morgan. Laurie Metcalf (*Lady Bird*, *Roseanne*) plays their mom, Linda.

In a previous statement, Levy declared, "Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name," while adding, "It's been my life's mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf 'mother.'"

Among the series regulars are Jack Innanen (*Adults*, *The Office Movers*) as Max, Boran Kuzum (*Thank You, Next*, *Bihter: A Forbidden Passion*) as Yusuf, and Abby Quinn (*Hell of a Summer*, *Knock at the Cabin*) as Natalie.

*Weeds* and *Sharp Objects* star Elizabeth Perkins, who also appeared with Ortega in *Another Simple Favor*, will play the recurring role of Annette. Other *Big Mistakes* casting includes Jacob Gutierrez (*Dear Edward*, *Bull*) as Tareq, Joe Barbara (*Just in Time*, *FBI*) as Mike, Josh Fadem (*Better Call Saul*, *Twin Peaks*) as Ashley, and Mark Ivanir (*Emilia Pérez*, *Zero Day*) as Ivan.

Levy co-created *Big Mistakes* with Rachel Sennott, who's been breaking into the limelight with her longtime comedic partner Ayo Edebiri. While Edebiri received Emmy love for her role on FX's *The Bear*, Sennott had scene-stealing moments in the films *Bodies, Bodies, Bodies* and *Saturday Night*. They also starred together in LGBTQ teen comedy *Bottoms*.

Sennott is now gearing up for an HBO series coming later this year, in which she also stars.

Both Levy and Sennott are credited as co-creators and executive producers of *Big Mistakes*, while Levy is the sole showrunner. Anne-Marie McGintee from Not a Real Production Company also serves as EP.

Where is Big Mistakes filming?

Netflix announced in August that *Big Mistakes* started filming in New Jersey. A specific location wasn't mentioned. However, local news outlet MyCentralJersey.com reported production set up shop in Edison, where scenes were shot at the Edison Millwork and Hardware on Old Post Road. Filming will reportedly run until October.

When does Big Mistakes premiere?

A premiere date has not been announced for *Big Mistakes*, though it's fair to project a 2026 debut.**
