*The View* cohosts are taking a little time to enjoy a little summer hiatus.
That's right — after a full season of Hot Topics, spicy cohost clashes, high-profile political guests, and even courting pointed responses from the White House, *The View* talk show stars have gone off the air for the year.
At the end of Friday's season 28 finale, moderator Joy Behar announced that the panel would take a break from their posts throughout August to take some time off, maybe go on vacation, and — hopefully, at least in Behar's case — go on an Italian journey where they call at least one passenger train hostess a "bitch."

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg dipped one day earlier after Thursday's broadcast, as the EGOT-winning actress typically has Fridays off throughout the regular season, though she is expected to return to the show for season 29 alongside the panel, which is currently the longest-running fixed roster of cohosts the show has had in years.
Still, the show's pre-taped weekend edition, *The Weekend View*, aired new installments over the last few days, including Saturday's episode that saw Haines apparently use profanity during a discussion about dementia and Behar shock Griffin by asking her colleague to reveal details about the time she lost her virginity.

Prior to going on its annual summer hiatus, *The View* panel's opinions elicited responses from major government figures, including the White House, which exclusively released a statement to ** labeling Behar an "irrelevant loser" after she alleged that Donald Trump was jealous of Barack Obama's looks, singing ability, and marriage.
The statement urged that Behar "should self-reflect on her jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air" — a clear reference to the abrupt cancellation of *Late Show* host and staunch Trump critic Stephen Colbert's program.
Later, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr also suggested that "consequences" could be in store for *The View*.
