Stephen Colbert is receiving an extra dose of love from his late-night pals — and poking fun at that viral Coldplay kiss cam couple at the same time. **

The late-night host revealed during Monday's broadcast that he tapped Lin-Manuel Miranda and Weird Al Yankovic to provide a little musical pick-me-up for everyone because he knew that "a lot of people out there are bummed about [*The Late Show*] ending" next May. **

"I don't want this show to be associated with making you sad or anxious, but since I'm the guy who's going away next year, I'm thinking maybe I'm not the guy to cheer you up," Colbert confessed. "So I thought, Music. That makes people happy, right? So, instead of me talking, here with a song to cheer you up are two musical greats, world-renowned for bringing people laughter and joy."

The pair began playing Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," before Miranda directed the show's camera operators to focus in on the couples in the audience, not unlike when the band broadcasted a purported affair between two Astronomer employees at a concert last week.

The camera first panned over to reveal *Anderson Cooper 360* star and* 60 Minutes* correspondent Anderson Cooper and *Watch What Happens Live*'s Andy Cohen. Upon spotting himself on the big screen, Cohen immediately reached over and pretended to make out with a shocked Cooper. **

It then cut over to *Late Night*'s Seth Meyers and* Tonight Show*'s Jimmy Fallon sitting side-by-side with beers in hand, before moving to *Happy Gilmore 2* stars Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald, who were both munching on popcorn shrimp with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Jon Stewart blasts CBS over 'The Late Show' cancellation with 'Go F--- Yourself' song

Elizabeth Warren questions 'Late Show' cancellation after Trump settlement that 'looks like bribery'

Colbert's former *Daily Show *colleagues Jon Stewart and* *John Oliver, now host of *Last Week Tonight* also went all out when the camera found them in the crowd. The pair both launched out of their seats, with Oliver waving his middle fingers and Stewart rubbing his pecs.**

And last, but certainly not least, the camera cut to a cartoon of Donald Trump embracing a floating Paramount logo, before they both tried to awkwardly duck out of view from the camera. Colbert then interrupted Miranda and Yankovic's performance to inform them that he'd just gotten a "note from corporate" that said "your song has been cancelled."**

He added, "It says here, 'This is a purely financial decision.'"

"Tell me this has nothing to do with who we just put a spotlight on," Miranda exclaimed. To which Colbert responded, "There's nothing in here that mentions that." **

The end of the bit echoes concerns from observers that CBS canceled *The Late Show *in an effort to appease Trump amid its parent company Paramount Global's pending sale to Skydance Media, which requires approval from the president's administration.

In his monologue, Colbert explained that "the gloves are off" now that he only has 10 months left at the helm of the franchise.

"I can finally speak unvarnished truth to power and say what I really think about Donald Trump starting right now…. I don't care for him. Doesn't seem to have like the skill set to be president. Just not a good fit, that's all."
